no posts

Right after our last update, our mom got append excited! They had to take her appendus out. She was gone for FOUR DAYS and Simon was scared of her when she came home! He thought she was a ghost. She didn't walk right or sound right or smell right.

And strange people came in to look at our house while she was gone, and The Man took us for a ride in the car while they looked around. Simon stayed home and hid from the strangers while the rest of us rode around with the dog and The Man. Biscuit whined the WHOLE TIME.

Biscuit was baaaaad!

This morning when Mom got ready to take the dog outside, she opened the door and WHOOSH! In came a cat! Biscuit had escaped when Dad took the trash out before he left for work this morning. He said he saw me looking out the storm door when he came back but didn't realize she had gotten out. She was out for about 2 hours.

She wanted in as much as she acts like she wants to go out. Mom acted normal and didn't fuss at (or beat) her, but everyone's glad to know she didn't go far and she wanted to come back. Well, mostly glad. She's still a pain.

Alice "In Wonder" Land

Last week the man suggested my middle name should be changed to In Wonder. I can't believe it took them this long to figure that out! I've been a Land for almost 3 years!  ~Alice Ann

Flynto bean

Flynn is known by a number of names. Occasionally we call him Flynn Hargett. his proper name. He was named for one of the Land ancestors, Major Flynn Hargett, sheriff of Harris County, Georgia. Flynn came to us from Harris County, so it seemed appropriate. Tom's sister-in-law found the kitten inside their under-construction house out in the country and took him in.... Then we took him away!

The picture above is from the first first time we saw him, on Christmas Day 2007; at right is a week after he arrived, right at home in our house. He was very creamy, with dark chocolate points, and as he's grown up he's gotten brown all over. He's very proud of his brown chest hair.

Simon is sometimes a black bean, and Flynn's legume counterpart is the Flynto bean. Kind of like a pinto, but chunkier. His other nickname is Chunk. He is McKenzie's baby and a funny little guy. He's a lot of fun for the people and the other cats (the dog is somewhat oblivious in her old age).

King of the condo (take that, Biscuit)!

Very happy to be the undisputed king of the crow's nest.

Simon says...

Since Aunt Jen (Bowman) pointed out that Alice is the only Land cat she's met, we're going to do introductions here. Biscuit's was first (see escape artist post). Now we'll have a quick update from Simon.

Simon was named for Simon LeBon. He and his brothers were about 6 weeks old and semi-wild when they showed up on our mom's patio. He was the friendliest, so he was named for the lead singer of Duran Duran (because of the song Wild Boys).

Simon is scared of most people, but he actually likes everyone. Even the people he's scared of. He especially loves his Mummy, and he's friends with the Man and McKenzie. And he LOVES other cats. That's him with Alice at left -- he loves his Alice -- and Biscuit below. He and Flynn spar like brothers.

He's also very fond of Zip, whom he considers to be his dog. Scared, but very fond.

Simon's real brother, his littermate Dash, lives in Birmingham with the Land cats' grandparents. Does that make Dash his brother's uncle? That makes our heads tired.

Simon's nicknames are the Monkest (he's monkey-like at times) and the Manlet. We also call him Little Man and Small Boy. (He spends a lot of time feeling a bit embarassed.)

escape artist

Biscuit has decided she wants to make a break for it. Our storm door closes slowly, and she tries to get out every time! Makes Mom yell, and makes the Man REALLY mad. They have to catch her and throw her back into the kitchen. Then they lock her up in a bedroom if they have to go in and out very much. Why is she so bad?

new blog, new look

Our mom borrowed an idea and part of a motif from www.shabbyblogs.com to give this blog a nice new look. We love our mousies!

oh, no! no computer!

There is no computer at the Land home tonight. Our world is upside down. Mom's BlackBerry is having to do all the posting for the Land blogs. Weird.
